Tuberiders Gets the Green Light for Round Two
After an hours postponement to scrutinize the surf conditions, contest
director Colin Fitch has deemed the waves fit to surf round two of the Rip
Curl Tuberiders at Durbanīs infamous Cave Rock reef break. With a 2-metre
swell running and offshore winds, the second day of competition looks set to
be an interesting one with top competitors like Shaun Gossmann, Brad
Bricknell, Mike Roscoe and Richard Sills taking to the water.
The Cave Rock Tuberiders event is being held in memory of seasoned surfer
Greg Noome who passed away surfing at Cave Rock earlier in the year. Gregīs
best friend Vernon White will be competing in heat two this morning out of
respect for his soul mate after many years break from the contest scene.
Heat one will commence at 08h00 and a decision will be made later in the day
whether or not to run round three where the top 10 Association of Surfing
Professionals (ASP) Africa Vodacom Surfing Series (VSS) seeds along with the
wildcards will pit themselves against the surfers that progress from round
two.
