Sunny to shine at EnergyAustralia Surfest
It´s official, reigning World Champion surfer, Sunny Garcia, will be making his first Australia appearance for the year this Sunday at EnergyAustralia Surfest in Newcastle. Garcia recently pulled out of the prestigious Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast due to family illness. For the same reason, he had to withdraw from the WQS 4 Star rated Mark Richards Newcastle City Pro, which started yesterday at Newcastle Beach.
However, Garcia has told the organisers of EnergyAustralia Surfest there is ´NO WAY´ he is going to miss out on the opportunity to take part in the EnergyAustralia Invite - the ultimate expression session featuring every surfing legend to have ever held the title of World Champion (dating back to 1976), as well as the current Masters Champion, Michael Ho.
The 14 World Champions will gather at Western Suburbs Leagues Club this Saturday, 31 March for a charity dinner and fundraising auction in aid of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The EnergyAustralia Invite will take place on Sunday afternoon at Newcastle Beach.
